NFL Week 5 Anytime TD Scorers: Best Picks for Sunday's Games

The NFL season is chugging right along, as Sunday’s Week 5 slate is right around the corner. The action gets underway with Eagles vs Jaguars in the morning from London before an eight-game 1:00 PM ET slate and an action-packed, three-game middle window, headlined by Niners vs Seahawks.

With another Sunday of NFL football on deck, I’ve put together my favorite touchdown-scorer props for the Week 5 slate, including a pick in the London game. Let’s dive into each pick before you check out our NFL predictions for more tips and analysis on every NFL game this week and throughout the season.

NFL Week 5 Touchdown Scorer: Bhayshul Tuten (JAX) -105

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Playable to -125.

This is a great price for the lead back of a -7.5 favorite before you add the context surrounding this matchup. After you add the context of the Eagles’ roster being in shambles and the Jags’ comfort with playing in London, the near-even price on Bhayshul Tuten suddenly carries more value. The game script should be there; it’s not like the Eagles have been particularly good against the run this year – they’re 23rd in EPA per rush (SumerSports).

Tuten has handled the rock at least 15 times in every game, and he has made the most of his opportunity now that Travis Etienne is no longer in front of him, sitting fourth in yards after contact per attempt and first in PFF run grade. He only has found the end zone twice thus far, but he had two called back last week. That should create some hunger this week, as could the fact that he’s playing the Eagles in a standalone NFL game across the world after growing up just across the river from Philadelphia in Paulsboro, New Jersey. Everyone loves a good narrative, right?

NFL Week 5 Touchdown Scorer: Ja’Marr Chase (CIN) -111

Odds available at BetMGM at the time of publishing. Playable to -125.

I don’t love laying chalk in the NFL touchdown market, but the price on Ja’Marr Chase feels too good to pass up. As of Friday night, Chase still remains in concussion protocol, but he logged a full practice Friday after a limited practice Thursday, which indicates he’s likely to return to action this week so long as he doesn't show any concussion symptoms on Saturday. If he does show symptoms, he won’t play and this ticket will be voided.

Assuming he plays, Chase is going to be a matchup nightmare for the Dolphins. Per SumerSports, Miami is second-worst in the NFL in EPA per pass allowed, and while they have surrendered just one touchdown to wide receivers this year, I wouldn’t read too much into that. Each of Miami’s previous four opponents like to spread the ball to various positions. Chase is by far the biggest alpha receiver they will have faced to this point, as Justin Jefferson did not play in Vikings-Dolphins last week.

Chase was heating up prior to leaving last week’s game early. He had three early receptions against the Jags after posting 16 catches and three combined scores on 21 targets against the Steelers and Texans in the two games prior. I like that success to continue in south Florida against the Dolphins, who have a trio of cornerbacks that all grade below replacement level in coverage per PFF. Not a single one even ranks top-50 among qualified corners this season.

NFL Week 5 Touchdown Scorer: Quinshon Judkins (CLE) +160

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Playable to +125.

Quinshon Judkins is the guy in the Cleveland Browns backfield. He has 59 carries thus far and because Dylan Sampson started the year on the IR, no other Cleveland back has more than six. It’s been Deshaun Watson supporting the run game behind Judkins, while the Browns second-round back also has caught 15 passes on 16 targets.

Judkins has only scored once this year, but it’s a great matchup against a Jets defense that has surrendered six running-back touchdowns in the last three weeks after getting run over by Kyle Monangai and Jahmyr Gibbs and giving up a receiving touchdown to MarShawn Lloyd. Judkins has started to regain his form after season-ending injury last year, going for at least 75 total yards on at least 20 touches in back-to-back games. Further, he is eighth in the NFL in red-zone rush rate and is Cleveland’s goal-line option. The opportunities should be there for him; he just needs to capitalize.

NFL Week 5 Touchdown Scorer: Trey McBride (ARI) +120

Odds available at Draftkings Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Playable to +100.

The Detroit Lions have been absolutely terrible against opposing #1 pass-catchers, and they have surrendered the most touchdowns (6) to tight ends through four games this season. That sounds like an ideal matchup for Trey McBride, who leads the Cardinals in targets, receptions and receiving touchdowns while sitting just 16 yards behind Michael Wilson for team-lead in that department.

McBride has drawn double-digit targets in every game this season, catching at least seven of them. Nine of his targets have come in the red zone, which is tied for third in the NFL, and seven have come inside the 10-yard line, which is tied for most in the league. The Lions held the Panthers tight ends out of the end zone last week, but they allowed two tight ends to score in each of their first three games against the Saints, Bills and Jets. McBride is the best of the bunch and should be on your card at any plus-money price.
