Is Sports Betting Legal In Ohio?

Sports betting in Ohio is not currently legal in the state but sports betting is expected to go live later in 2021. Ohioans have been expecting the sports betting bill to be passed for some time now with it being discussed five times in hearings throughout 2020, it was expected to be passed in December 2020 but some finer details could not be agreed upon. It does look to be a case of when not if the bill is passed with both sides of the senate in favor of legalizing sports betting. The start of the NFL and College Football season will be the next target but legislation will need to be passed soon in Q1 2021 to meet that date. 

How Did Ohio Sports Betting Become Legal?

As yet, Ohio sports betting has not become legal. Despite multiple discussions in Senate hearings, finer details around the legalization of sports betting have not been agreed upon. It is expected to be a matter of when not if and Ohioans in all likelihood will be able to legally wager on sports at some point during 2021.

Currently, nowhere. Sports betting is yet to be legalized in Ohio, but it looks ever more likely that it will be at some point in 2021.
