With the US Open at Shinnecock Hills taking place next week, the RBC Canadian Open offers the final chance for those players competing in the 3rd Major of the season to fine-tune their games. TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley staged this event for the first time last year, when Ryan Fox edged out Sam Burns in a playoff, and a high-class field will be descending upon the North Course in Ontario once again. Let's break down our expert golf predictions for the RBC Canadian Open this week, as we look to get into form ahead of the US Open next week.

RBC Canadian Open best bet: Matt Fitzpatrick (+1300)

Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.

Weather delays resulted in a marathon Sunday at The Memorial Tournament, with a large number of the field playing 31 holes to close out the tournament on time, but that extra workload should be of no concern to this week’s Canadian Open best bet, Matt Fitzpatrick.

The Englishman was never really close enough to contend at Muirfield Village over the weekend, so he didn’t have the same mental strain of those battling for the trophy, and he was just going through the motions, especially over his last 18 holes. Fitzpatrick will be making his TPC Toronto debut this week, but his skill set should suit this layout nicely as he aims to land his 3rd individual PGA Tour title of the season - having won the Valspar Championship and RBC Heritage. The 31-year-old, who also won the Zurich Classic alongside brother Alex, is 3rd in strokes gained tee to green and 5th in approach, while he is in the top 10 for both driving accuracy and greens in regulation.

Last year’s winner, Fox, was 2nd in tee to green and 6th in approach, evidence of how crucial those 2 departments are to success around the Ontario course. Playing the week before a Major is also an advantage for Fitzpatrick, who was tied 10th at the 2022 Canadian Open before then winning the US Open at The Country Club at Brookline, Massachusetts.

RBC Canadian Open prediction: Brooks Koepka (+2800)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Brooks Koepka has been going about his business in a calm manner since returning to the PGA Tour, and he heads to Canada fully refreshed, having last played at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. The American decided to skip the Charles Schwab Challenge, a decision which meant he couldn’t qualify for The Memorial, but this trip to Canada could set him up nicely ahead of a crack at a 3rd US Open victory.

Koepka is 6th in tee to green and 4th in approach for strokes gained, and he has put together some solid results over the last couple of months, posting 3 top-15 finishes over his last 4 starts.

RBC Canadian Open prediction: Nicolai Hojgaard (+3300)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Another player to consider is Nicolai Hojgaard, who may not be too frustrated about his missed cut at The Memorial, given the events that unfolded over the weekend.

The Dane has come close to finally winning a PGA Tour event this season, finishing runner-up at the Houston Open and Truist Championship and sharing 3rd place at the Phoenix Open.

A reliable driver of the ball, Hojgaard is 14th in strokes gained tee to green, while his sharp approach play has him sitting 18th in that department. Hojgaard will be keen to head into next week’s US Open full of confidence, and a maiden title on the US circuit would certainly provide that boost.
