West Virginia Mountaineers vs. TCU Horned Frogs Predictions
Pickswise's Expert Predictions & Analysis
Point Spread Prediction
I am starting to like this West Virginia team more and more. On Saturday they won a close game at Texas. It was impressive because of the opponent and because they found their defense in the second half, giving up just 29 points. They are 6-2 on the road this season and their aggressive style really plays well. They shot 26 more free throws than the Longhorns in the win. When you do that, you can hang with anybody, anywhere.
TCU is not having a good season but they hit a new low losing at home to Kansas State. The Horned Frogs were just a disaster, shooting 32% from the field for the game. Teams have those kinds of games once in a while but they should not happen against an opponent like that. West Virginia with their super aggressive style of play does not look like the right opponent to try and get things back on track.
West Virginia is a very significant favourite on Tuesday. As an away favourite, they have yet to lose a game, 4-0 SU, but they are just 2-2 ATS. A week or two ago I might have faded them in this spot but they are surging over the second half of the season, while TCU is sliding. I don’t love all that chalk so I will probably wait until closer to tip to see if some money on the Horned Frogs gives us a better number. West Virginia is the play either way though.
Take West Virginia.
Game Totals Prediction
The Mountaineers are one of the best over teams in the country, besting the total 67% of the time. They are currently on a run of seven straight overs as they have become more committed to their offense, I am not sure the markets are catching up though. TCU has yet to face them this season and even though they tend to slow things down that is a tough way to play if you are playing from behind. West Virginia has scored under 80 points just once in their last seven games. Unless you think TCU is going to hold them under that total the over is the way to go here.
Take the over.
