Chelsea vs Liverpool Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
Liverpool Win(-115)

Chelsea’s season continues to go from bad to worse, and 6 straight defeats in the Premier League have all but ended any hopes of them securing a top-5 finish. Interim manager Calum McFarlane insists that the Blues are motivated to finish the season strongly, but Monday’s 3-1 defeat at home to a much-changed Nottingham Forest side suggested otherwise, and maximum focus may already be on the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Liverpool also suffered a weekend setback, going down 3-2 away to top-5 rivals Manchester United on Sunday, but having trailed 2-0 inside just 14 minutes, they did show some spirit. The Reds have endured a dramatic decline, with last season’s champions only 4th in the standings, but Champions League qualification remains firmly in their grasp. Injuries are not helping matters, especially with Hugo Ekitike ruled out for the remainder of the season, but there is some hope that Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah could be available to feature.

Even if neither make it, as was the case against United, Arne Slot’s side have been far more reliable at Anfield. Liverpool have lost just 2 of their last 16 home assignments, and those defeats came against Manchester City and Paris St-Germain. Liverpool have recorded 2-goal wins over Fulham and Crystal Palace in their last 2 home league games, and they are expected to overcome Chelsea, who have been beaten 3-0 on their last 2 away league trips to Everton and Brighton.
