Chelsea will be delighted to see the end of a dreadful Premier League season for the Blues on Sunday and they may be right not to expect much from Newcastle’s visit on the final day. The Blues have been pitiful for most of the campaign and while Stamford Bridge used to be a fortress, it has been anything but this term and they have allowed at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 home games. Of their last 14 on their own field, just 3 have featured at least 3 goals so it is not as if they have been entertaining games to watch either, and the Blues’ sorry end to the season continued with a 4-1 loss at Manchester United on Thursday.

The outlook is much brighter for Newcastle with a Champions League place for next season now secured. The Magpies have suffered just 2 losses in their last 15 on the road and scored at least twice in 5 of the last 6. Chelsea has won just 1 of its last 9 EPL games at Stamford Bridge and the 2022-23 season may end with another home defeat.
