Only 4 teams remain from the Eastern Conference, and just 2 of them are from the Atlantic Division. The Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs meet for round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the second time in 3 years. This is going to be an electric matchup between 2 teams that took care of business in round 1 before any Game 7 heroics were required. It is now time to get ready for Game 1 of the series, so here is a Panthers vs Maple Leafs prediction.

Both teams are going to waste no time in trying to set the tone for this series. I expect this game to bring major levels of physicality and lots of fisticuffs between each whistle, especially early on. With this type of play taking over, I don’t expect to see a ton of goals. Both have shown great offensive ability during these playoffs, (7.0 goals per game combined), but their defensive efforts have been even more impressive. Out of 16 teams, Florida ranks second in goals-against average (2.20) and Toronto sits third (2.33). These efforts are key contributors in first round success, so I don’t expect to see either team stray from the plan. I also think we are in for an elite goaltending battle, as Maple Leafs netminder Anthony Stolarz and Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky were a teammate duo just 1 year ago and will look to out-battle each other all series long. Game 1 should be full of intensity, and I expect a low-scoring result. I’m taking the under.
