The Stanley Cup Final matchup has been set – we will see the Vegas Golden Knights take on the Carolina Hurricanes for a chance to etch their names in hockey history. These two teams have met twice this season, both games were way back in October. The Golden Knights won both of the meetings. I don’t think we can put too much stock into those games as they were a while ago and both of these teams are very different from then. The Hurricanes like to start games fast and get on their opponents early, especially on home ice. This will be the first game action for the Golden Knights in seven days, so I expect the Hurricanes to try and take advantage of that right from puck drop. The depth scoring on the Hurricanes is going to play a big role in this series as Jack Eichel is one of the best shut down centerman in the NHL, and I expect he will be matched up with the Sebastian Aho line, likely neutralizing them. The Logan Stankoven line will need to keep their good play going in this series.

Both netminders have been great for their teams in the playoffs thus far, I am considering it a wash in goal. These teams are very evenly matched, but the Lenovo Center will be rocking for Game 1 and the Hurricanes are going to come out flying. Give me the Hurricanes to take Game 1.
