Game Totals Pick
Over 5.5(-125)

The New Jersey Devils have won 5 of their last 7 games heading into a home date with the Boston Bruins on Monday night. New Jersey was hopeless offensively going into the Winter Olympics break and they were briefly the same coming out of it, scoring a grand total of 4 goals during a 5-game stretch. However, it has all turned around now. The Devils have scored 28 goals in their last 7 contests, a stretch that features a pair of 6-goal performances — 1 of which came in Saturday’s 6-4 victory over Los Angeles. As such, my Bruins vs Devils pick is Over 5.5.

Jack Hughes has 5 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games, including a hat trick against the Rangers on March 7. Luke Hughes has dished out an assist in 4 of the last 5 contests and he also scored once in a 5-4 setback against Calgary last Thursday. It sounds like backup Jake Allen could be in the net for the home side on Thursday instead of Jacob Markstrom, so that is a potential development to monitor. The under is 8-2 in Boston’s last 10 on the road, 4-1 in New Jersey’s last 5 overall and 3-1 in the last 4 head-to-head meetings. Look for those trends to continue.

Bruins vs Devils prediction: Over 5.5 (-125) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

Puck Line Pick
DET Red Wings Win -1.5(+145)

The Detroit Red Wings will be hosting the Calgary Flames on Monday night. I am sure the Red Wings have this one circled as a must-win on their calendar. The Red Wings are narrowly hanging onto the final wildcard playoff spot in the Eastern conference, and going up against a Flames team that is in a rebuilding stage should be a mandatory two points. The Red Wings are riding a three-game losing streak and I expect they will be putting that to an end on Monday. Good news is they will be on home ice where they are very good. They have an 18-11-3 record at the Little Caesars Arena. On the flip side of this, the Flames are brutal on the road. They are 10-21-3 on the road this season.

The Flames offense has plagued them all season long. They are the worst offensive team in the league, averaging only 2.47 goals per game. With Nazem Kadri gone, their leading point scorer has only 38 points in 66 games. This won’t be enough to keep up with a hungry Red Wings team. Give me the Red Wings in this one.

Flames vs. Red Wings prediction: Red Wings -1.5 (+145) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

Puck Line Pick
DAL Stars Win -1.5(+160)

The Utah Mammoth will take on the Dallas Stars Monday night. The Mammoth currently sit at 7th in the Western Conference but have lost their last 4 games. In that span, they have given up 15 goals which is shocking from a team that has only allowed 2.81 goals per game this season. The Mammoth have also only scored 7 goals over their past 4 games. This is not the form the Mammoth were hoping for with the playoffs coming.

For the Stars, they have looked incredible. They have won 14 of their last 15 outright, with that sole loss coming against the Colorado Avalanche. On the season, they rank 6th in scoring with 3.45 goals per game. The Stars also rank 2nd in goals against only allowing 2.64 goals per game. Diving deeper, the Stars have the top shooting percentage in the league, scoring on 13.4% of their total shots. The Stars also rank 4th in save percentage with their goalies stopping 90% of the shots they face this season. Overall, these are 2 teams trending in opposite directions. I am taking the Stars on the puck line.

Mammoth vs. Stars Prediction: Stars -1.5 (+160) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.

COL Avalanche(-150)

Despite their very good season, the Colorado Avalanche find themselves only three points ahead of the Dallas Stars for the top spot in the Central Division. Securing the top spot in the Central is important to avoid a first-round playoff matchup with the Minnesota Wild. The Avalanche will be hosting the Sidney Crosby-less Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. The Penguins have been playing some good hockey as of late while Crosby is absent to maintain their playoff spot. However, the Avalanche are a powerhouse, and they have only lost nine times on home ice all season long. They are both the best offensive and defensive team in the league, and they are averaging an impressive 33.9 shots on goal per game. Nathan MacKinnon is leading the way with 109 points and seemingly no one in the league can shut him down.

Coming off a loss, the Avalanche will be looking to rebound and maintain at least a three-point gap between them and the Stars, who they have two upcoming games against. Look for the Avalanche to get it done on home ice. I will be taking them to win in regulation time.

Penguins vs. Avalanche prediction: Avalanche 3-way ml (-150) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets tangle in a matinee game at Canada Life Centre on NHL Network at 3 p.m. ET. The Blues have been playing tremendous hockey despite selling off some key pieces at the NHL trade deadline such as Justin Faulk and Brayden Schenn. Since March 1, St. Louis is 6-0-1 in 7 games, with only a loss in overtime at home on March 10 to the New York Islanders as the lone blemish. Ironically, that’s the team they traded Schenn. The goaltending has been top notch, as Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer have been doing a tremendous job, allowing just 16 goals in the past 9 games, or 1.8 goals per game. That’s been a good recipe for the Under, which is 7-1 in the past 8 games.

These teams have met twice this season, with a split in the first two games. We had a 1-0 battle in St. Louis on Dec. 17, 2025, and a 3-1 victory by the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 20. That’s 2 games, and a pair of lower-scoring results. With the way the Blues are going lately, and the fact Winnipeg is also on a 6-1 Under run, let’s go low on the total here, and be rather aggressive about it at even-money.

Blues vs Jets prediction: Under 5.5 (+100) at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

The Ottawa Senators will host the young phenom Macklin Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks on Sunday afternoon. The Senators come into this game playing some good hockey, sitting at 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. They are currently 5 points back of both the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins for the final 2 wildcard playoff spots. Every point matters for them from here on out if they have hopes of making it to the postseason. They will play a Sharks team that will be playing their 2nd game in less than 24 hours, so the Senators should have the rest advantage. If the Senators had even average goaltending this season, they would have won a lot more games. The good news is, they are going up against a team that gives up even more goals than they do. The Sharks are the 4th-worst defensive team in the league, averaging 3.45 goals against per game. They also allow 30.4 shots against per game, which is 2nd-worst in the league. The Senators are 2nd-best in this department, averaging only 24.3 shots against.

I expect the veteran lineup of the Senators to be able to handle this young Sharks team that has a losing record on the road. Give me the Senators in this one.

Sharks vs. Senators prediction: Ottawa Senators 3-way ml (-135) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

The Anaheim Ducks conclude their 4-game road trip with a visit to Montreal to face the Canadiens. This matchup comes on the tail end of a back-to-back, with the Ducks playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, which may lead to some fatigue. They lost 2-0 to Ottawa less than 24 hours prior, creating few scoring opportunities. While they are capable of scoring well at home, their performance on the road has been different.

The Canadiens come into this game after a 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Although they didn’t play poorly, it’s true that sometimes the better team doesn’t come out on top. Montreal is the 2nd-highest-scoring team in the league, behind only Colorado, and with the Ducks missing Radko Gudas due to suspension and John Carlson still sidelined, the Canadiens might find more open space on the ice.

In their first meeting, these teams combined for 11 goals, but this time, Jacob Fowler will be in goal for the Ducks — representing a clear upgrade in net. He has shown that he can make crucial saves, something the Canadiens have struggled to achieve consistently. Although both teams are likely to generate scoring chances, the strong goaltending should help keep this game relatively low-scoring.

Ducks vs Canadiens Prediction: Under 6.5 (+110) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.

Puck Line Pick
MIN Wild Win -1.5(+105)

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Minnesota Wild will face each other for the second and final time this season. In their first matchup back in January, nine goals were scored, and we might see another high-scoring game. The Maple Leafs are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Sabres, where they arguably should not have ended up with a point. Goalie Joseph Woll played exceptionally well and got the team to overtime, which is an accomplishment in itself. Toronto has not performed well this season, and its road record is even worse. This was their first game without captain Auston Matthews, who is likely out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

The Wild recently lost to the Rangers 4-2, but a closer look at the numbers shows they faced a hot goalie in Igor Shesterkin, who played exceptionally well while his team provided just enough offensive support. In this matchup, the better team did not win, but if the Wild brings the same level of effort, the outcome could be different. Goalie Anthony Stolarz has been a significant disappointment this season, with a goals-against average of 3.40 and a save percentage of .890. Even if he plays well, the Leafs have struggled to score goals. The Wild should be able to come out strong and push the pace. Look for them to cover the puck line by a few goals.

Maple Leafs vs Wild Prediction: Wild -1.5 (+105) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.

The Florida Panthers will take on the Seattle Kraken Sunday night. The Panthers have won their last 3 games, though the playoffs are looking out of reach at this point. On the year, they rank 13th in the Eastern Conference. The issue for the Panthers is that they give up 3.28 goals per game. This ranks them in the bottom 10 of the NHL. It gets even worse when looking at their recent away form. They have lost 5 of their last 6 with opponents scoring 4 or more goals in all 5 losses. I believe the Panthers defense could be a problem considering they rank 29th in save percentage and give up the 2nd-most power play opportunities in the NHL.

For the Kraken, they are coming off a fantastic game against the Vancouver Canucks in which they won 5-2. This is the type of play the Kraken will be expecting to close the season with, as they sit 1 point behind the Sharks for the final playoff spot. Over their last 10 home games, they are 5-5 but have scored 32 goals in that span. The Kraken currently have the 5th-best save percentage in the NHL. This goaltending will come in handy today. Overall, I believe the Kraken will carry their form from last night into this one and the Panthers defense will crumble like it has all year. I am taking the Kraken on the money line.

The Oilers are bringing a 2-game losing streak back to Edmonton, where they do majority of their winning, to play the Nashville Predators on Sunday. These teams are equally as poor defensively, both allowing 3.4 goals against per game. The main difference is the offensive capabilities of the Oilers. The Oilers average 3.51 goals per game, which is 2nd-best in the NHL. This is largely due to the play of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The duo has 111 and 96 points on the season, respectively. The closest player to that total on the Predators is Ryan O’Reilly, who only has 61 points. It is simple, McDavid and Draisaitl can carry this team on their own. I expect them to come out flying, as they are in a tight playoff race and narrowly hanging onto the 3rd-place position in the Pacific Division. Every point matters for them.

Another thing working in favor of the Oilers is that they are much better on home ice than on the road, and same goes for the Predators who are much worse on the road than on home ice. Look for the Oilers to get it done today. Give me the Oilers on the money line.

Predators vs. Oilers best bet: Edmonton Oilers ML (-185) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

How Do I Get NHL Picks For Today’s Games?

NHL Picks are most similar to MLB Picks, in that the most popular NHL wagering is done via the Money line (ML) where a bettor simply picks a winner or loser of the game finding value in the price. Just like an MLB pitcher, NHL game lines are determined largely by the goaltender matchup. You’re going to pay a premium price (-180 or more) for putting in an NHL free pick on a solid goaltender – but it’s one position that can win or lose the bet for you. Fatigue is also a factor in finding the best NHL picks as Team A may be playing their first game in a week while Team B is in their 3rd contest in 5 nights.

We try to post our NHL picks for today at least 24 hours in advance. However, due to the huge volume of games, this can sometimes be impossible if teams are playing back-to-back games. We want to get our picks up as close as possible to the opening lines so we can get on the early line value, but team news and research is always key to making the best possible NHL Picks.

NHL Picks Against the Spread

NHL betting has a 1.5-goal spread known as the puck line (PL). Again just like baseball betting has the run line (-1.5). NHL wagers are exciting until the very last second of the game as teams often pull their goaltender near the end to get an extra skater on the ice. All of a sudden an empty-net goal pushes your NHL free pick to victory – or defeat. Betting on the puck line provides better payout odds and NHL picks against the spread can also be pushed to higher numbers such as -2.5 or 3.5 goals for an even better return on investment.

Free NHL Over / Under Picks

Most games are listed right around 5.5 goals in the NHL. The total number of goals is the total of combined goals by both teams and you can either select over or under the total. If the line is 5.5 and you wish to wager on the over then the total combined goals for the game must be 6 or more for you to cash your ticket.

NHL over/under betting is an interesting wager. A huge factor to take into consideration is the goaltenders as they have a huge part to play in influencing the number of goals in the game. A goaltender’s Goals Against Average (GAA) is a key stat to measure the effectiveness of a goaltender.

NHL Consensus Picks

NHL Consensus Picks is a way of saying the popular pick or often referred to as a public pick. What this actually means is where the majority of the bets are being placed. If we’re looking at Money Line markets, for example, if 70% of the tickets are on the Pittsburgh Penguins to beat the New York Islanders, then the Penguins are the consensus pick for that game. Bettors can use this in their research or check possible line moves in the lead-up to a game.Ā

Ice Hockey Betting Picks

Our ice hockey betting picks will typically follow and feature on the NHL season with picks and Predictions available all season long. Our experts will be primed and ready in times of Olympic years and select other competitions throughout the year too.
