WAS Capitals Win(-115)

The Philadelphia Flyers will be hosting the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season, the Capitals won the first meeting 3-1. The Capitals are coming off a big win on home ice against the Calgary Flames and they are still alive in the playoff race. Despite shipping off a few pieces at the trade deadline, this team’s core remains largely in tact and I believe they are still a better team than the Flyers. They still have their superstar netminder Logan Thompson who has a 2.39 GAA and .912 SVP on the season. They are going up against a Flyers team that struggles to score goals. The Flyers average only 2.79 goals per game. They also are ranked fourth last in the NHL averaging 25.3 shots on goal per game. This lack lustre offense may not be enough to solve Logan Thompson.

Every game from here on out is a must win for the Capitals and I expect a desperate effort from this veteran team on Wednesday. Give me the Capitals on the money line.

After a quick 2-game road trip, the New York Rangers return home to face the Calgary Flames. Calgary dominated in their matchup earlier this season, but will they be able to repeat history in their final meeting of the season? Here is our Flames vs. Rangers prediction to get you set for the action.

New York has been playing with some pep in their step. They are 3-1-2 over their last 6, which has included their first win on home ice since November 24. While it has been a poor season, New York still has a large core of excellent veterans that were there during the glory days (i.e Adam Fox, Igor Shesterkin, and Mika Zibanejad). Calgary remains young and depleted after a busy and successful trade deadline, so I am not expecting much firepower from them as the season progresses. The Rangers are also scoring at a nice pace lately, potting 4.75 goals per game over their last 4 games, which only adds to their confidence. Let’s side with the Rangers on the money line.

The Columbus Blue Jackets hit the road for Tampa on Tuesday night after suffering a 5-4 loss in overtime on home ice on Monday night. It was the second straight 5-4 OT loss for the Blue Jackets, and it was the fourth overtime game for Columbus in the past six outings. The Blue Jackets are still 14-2-3 across the past 19 games, playing their way into the playoff chase in the Eastern Conference. Based on their ability to play in close games, especially those going to overtime, let’s go with Columbus catching the goal and a half on the puck line.

The Lightning were on the short end of a wild 8-7 loss on the road against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, and Tampa Bay is just 1-5-0 in the past six games. It has won 11 of the past 12 games on home ice dating back to Dec. 20. The Jackets have won each of the two meetings this series, outscoring the Lightning 11-7 in those games. While Tampa Bay has won the past five meetings in Tampa, look for this to be a close game.

The Detroit Red Wings will be down in South Florida on Tuesday night to take on the Panthers. This will be the second meeting between these teams in four days. The Panthers beat the Red Wings 3-1 on Friday night. This game means a lot more for the Red Wings as they are just hanging onto third place in the Atlantic Division, while the Panthers seem to have mailed it in on this season. Losing two games in a row to a team that has their eyes set on next season is unacceptable in the late stages of the season. Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat have been leading the way offensively for the Red Wings, they have 65 and 63 points respectively. DeBrincat has goals in three of his last four games, look for him to contribute to the scoring for the Red Wings. The Red Wings are a much better defensive team than the Panthers, they are allowing 2.92 goals per game compared to the 3.32 that the Panthers average. This is largely due to the weak play of netminder Sergei Bobrovsky.

The Red Wings are playing desperate hockey right now and I expect them to come out with a good performance. They are underdogs in this game which means we are getting good value on a solid team. Give me the Red Wings in this one.

Over 6.0(-110)

The Los Angeles Kings continue a 5-game road trip with a stop in Massachusetts to take on the Boston Bruins. These cross-conference foes have met just once this season in a tight 2-1 overtime win by the Boston Bruins. To help uncover how this one may play out, we have built our expert Kings vs. Bruins prediction.

This should be a tight matchup between two teams gunning for the playoffs. Both teams should be at their best, and some recent chaotic games for each could continue. In Los Angeles, 6 of their last 7 games have seen 6+ total goals. Over their last three games, there has been an average of just under 8 total goals per game. As for Boston, 12 of their last 16 games have seen 6+ goals. They also own two dynamic goal scorers in David Pastrnak who is a perennial scoring threat, and Morgan Geekie who is tied for 5th in league scoring with 34 goals. Neither team has necessarily been all-worldly offensively, but with both teams going full steam ahead, we should see offense flourish in this game. We will also see a pair of penalty kill units that rank inside the bottom 8 in the NHL, which could allow power plays to capitalize on their chances more frequently. With that being said, take the over 6 for our Kings vs. Bruins prediction.

The Pittsburgh Penguins hit the road for Raleigh in an important Metropolitan Division battle with the first-place Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. The Penguins picked up a 5-4 win in overtime against the Boston Bruins on Sunday, but they’re 1-2-1 in the past four outings, while last winning in regulation against the Vegas Golden Knights on March 1. The Pens have cooled off a bit, going 4-3-3 in the past 10 outings. The Penguins won the only previous meeting this season as an underdog on home ice, 5-1, at +110 as the total pushed at most shops.

The Hurricanes have won three of the past four in the series, and each of the past 5 meetings at home since Jan. 14, 2023. Carolina has outscored Pittsburgh 18-9 in the 5-game win streak at Lenovo Center. Carolina lost at Calgary to put a damper on the finale of what was a decent road trip, but the Canes are still 12-2-2 in the past 16 outings. Carolina is 10-0-1 in the past 11 games at home, too, last losing in regulation to the Colorado Avalanche back on Jan. 3. Let’s back the Hurricanes on the puck line, as they take care of the skidding Pens.

The Buffalo Sabres enter Tuesday’s matchup against the San Jose Sharks coming off arguably the game of the season. Buffalo defeated Tampa Bay in a wild back-and-forth contest that resulted in an 8-7 win for the Sabres. The chaotic win moved the Sabres up to the top spot in the Atlantic division, as they now own 84 points on the season. As impressive as Sunday’s win was, this may be a good time to fade Buffalo. After such an emotional win, a bit of a natural let down can be expected in the following game. Plus, the Sharks are a formidable opponent who are capable of giving the red-hot Sabres all they can handle.

It’s clear the Sharks are heading in the right direction. Macklin Celebrini has emerged into a bonafide superstar in his 2nd NHL season at just 19 years of age, and the young core around him consisting of Will Smith, William Eklund, and Michael Misa gives San Jose a bright future ahead. They enter this contest with wins in 3 of their last 5 games, and the 2 losses in that stretch have come in overtime. They are playing solid hockey right now, and have an extra day of rest over the Sabres as they haven’t played since Saturday against the Islanders. The Sabres are overwhelming favorites, for a reason, but don’t be surprised if the Sharks make this one interesting. Consider backing San Jose +1.5 on the puck line on Tuesday.

Things are spiraling out of control for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They will be looking to put an end to their seven-game losing streak when they are in Montreal on Tuesday night. The Montreal Canadiens are in the middle of a tight playoff race, and I expect they will come out flying against their long-time rivals. The Canadiens are the second-best offensive team in the league, averaging 3.55 goals per game. They will be going up against the third-worst defensive team in the league that average 3.48 goals against per game. The home ice advantage at the Bell Centre is a real thing, and the Canadiens are a very good home team. They are 17-11-2 on home ice. On the flip side of this, the Leafs are a very poor road team. They are 11-15-4 on the road this season.

The Leafs have not managed to score more than three goals in a game in their last seven games. This won’t be enough to keep up with the potent offense of the Canadiens. Look for the fast-paced game that the Canadiens play to cause trouble for the Leafs. Give me the Canadiens to win this one in regulation time.

The New York Islanders will take on the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. The Islanders currently sit at 7th in the Eastern conference, though it is a tight race for the bottom playoff spots. They have won 4 of their last 6 games since the Olympic break. The Islanders average 2.88 goals per game which seems low but they allow the 5th fewest goals per game in the NHL. On the season, their goaltenders save 90.1% of shots which ranks 3rd in the NHL. This will be a redemption spot for the Islanders as they outshot the Blues in their head-to-head meeting earlier this year but lost by a score of 2-1.

As for the Blues, they are riding a 4-game win streak. This is wildly impressive as they rank 13th in the Western Conference and have only 34 points through their 32 home games. On the season, they rank 28th only averaging 2.62 goals per game. Even through their last 5 games, they are averaging under 3 goals per game. The big difference is that they have only given up 8 goals in that time. This is also surprising as they rank 27th in save percentage this season. Overall, the Blues are shocking us all but I think that comes to an end tonight. The Islanders are motivated to keep their playoff spot and have the more steady defense on the season. I am taking the Islanders on the money line.

The Utah Mammoth and Minnesota Wild are set for a Tuesday night clash at Grand Casino Arena. These teams met just a few weeks ago on February 27 with the Mammoth claiming a 5-2 victory. Utah did a great job of limiting Minnesota’s high-flying offensive attack in that contest, as they held Minnesota to just 23 shots on goal. That follows a common theme for Utah this season, who is among the stingiest defensive teams in the NHL. The Mammoth are allowing 25.9 shots on goal per game, which ranked 5th in the league. The Mammoth also bolstered their back end even more with the addition of Mackenzie Weegar at the trade deadline. His presence should help Utah remain as a tough team to play against.

After allowing 5 goals in that February 27 matchup in Utah, I am expecting a more spirited defensive effort from the Wild this time around. The Wild have allowed just 9 total goals in their 4 games since that contest, so they have already started to get things going in the right direction. In addition, Utah is playing on the second half of a road back-to-back after playing in Chicago on Monday night, so fatigue may be an issue. Furthermore, Utah’s goals per game average drops from 3.40 at home to 3.00 on the road. After 7 total goals were scored in the last meeting between these teams, I am looking for this matchup to be a bit more lower-scoring. Look to the under on Tuesday.

The Vegas Golden Knights hit the road for the Metroplex to battle the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. The Golden Knights suffered a 4-2 loss at home against the Edmonton Oilers, and VGK has managed to win just once in the past six games, going 1-5-0 in the skid. The last time these teams met in Las Vegas, Dallas came away with a wild 5-4 win in a shootout as short underdogs as the Over cashed. Vegas has managed a 15-11-7 mark on the road this season, but Dallas is a very impressive 19-7-3 on home ice.

For the Stars, they outlasted the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday by a 4-3 score in overtime as the Over cashed behind Casey DeSmith. The Stars are a little banged up right now, as Radek Faksa (upper body), Roope Hintz (lower body) and Mikko Rantanen (lower body) are each sidelined right now. Despite all of that, Dallas has rattled off 11 consecutive victories dating back to Jan. 23, which was before the Olympic break. Dallas has scored three or more points in each of the wins, too, averaging 4.3 goals per game during the impressive span. Keep striking while the iron is hot, and ride the wave with the Stars until it crashes.

Game Totals Pick
Under 6.5(-120)

The Anaheim Ducks are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday night. Since leading Team USA to a Gold medal in Italy, Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been on a roll with the Jets. The 32-year-old netminder owns a strong.931 save percentage to go along with a 1.72 goals-against average in 3 starts to begin the new month. Furthermore, he has allowed 2 goals or fewer in 4 straight starts going back to the end of February. He allowed 5 goals to this same Ducks team in his first game back from the Olympic break on February 27, but it’s clear he has gotten back on track since that contest. Plus, the Ducks are coming off a game in which they were shutout against the Blues on Sunday.

Anaheim goaltender Lukas Dostal had a rough February, but he seems to have a favorable matchup against the Jets in this one. Winnipeg ranks 23rd in the NHL scoring 2.85 goals per game this season, and their power play percentage of 18.5% ranks 22nd. Offensively, Anaheim is still playing without Troy Terry, which hurts their forward depth. It appears he is close to returning, but is not expected to suit up in this one. After 9 goals were scored in the last meeting between these teams, this one should be lower-scoring. With a total of 6.5, the under is the play.

By their lofty standards, the Colorado Avalanche were scuffling a bit heading into the Winter Olympics break. They were 6-7-2 in their last 15 games at that point. Well, some time off appears to be just what the doctor ordered. Since returning, the Avalanche are 6-1 — and they carry a 5-game winning streak into Tuesday’s home date with the Edmonton Oilers. With Colorado on fire and playing on its own ice, my Oilers vs Avalanche prediction is for the home to prevail — and the 3-way money line also has good value in the -115 range.

Scott Wedgewood is expected to be in goal for the Avs tonight and he has been fantastic throughout the 2025-26 campaign. The 33-year-old is sporting a 24-4-5 record to go along with a 2.19 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. Wedgewood has allowed just 5 total goals in his last 4 appearances and Colorado is 4-0 in those games. The Avalanche are an amazing 23-4-4 at home, while the Oilers have lost more games than they have won on the road (15-14-4). Edmonton is just 3-6 in it last 9 contests and it got humiliated 9-1 in the only previous head-to-head matchup with Colorado this season (November 8 in Edmonton). What’s not to like about the Avs’ chances in this rematch?

The Nashville Predators make the second stop on a 5-game road trip at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle against the Kraken. The Predators suffered a 3-2 loss at Buffalo on Saturday, and the Preds slipped to 1-3-1 in the past 5 games, and 2-4-2 across the previous eight outings. The Preds have scored two or fewer goals in 4 of the past 5 outings, but they’ve allowed 3 or fewer goals in 4 of the past 5 games as well.

As for Seattle, it was outscored 7-4 at home against the Ottawa Senators as short underdogs at home. The Kraken have cooled off a bit lately, going 2-4-0 in the past 6 games, but they have allowed 3 or fewer goals in 3 of the past 4 outings. The offense has two or fewer goals in 4 of the past 6 games. At first, the thinking was that the Kraken looked like the best play on home ice. How Do I Get NHL Picks For Today’s Games?

NHL Picks are most similar to MLB Picks, in that the most popular NHL wagering is done via the Money line (ML) where a bettor simply picks a winner or loser of the game finding value in the price. Just like an MLB pitcher, NHL game lines are determined largely by the goaltender matchup. You’re going to pay a premium price (-180 or more) for putting in an NHL free pick on a solid goaltender – but it’s one position that can win or lose the bet for you. Fatigue is also a factor in finding the best NHL picks as Team A may be playing their first game in a week while Team B is in their 3rd contest in 5 nights.

We try to post our NHL picks for today at least 24 hours in advance. However, due to the huge volume of games, this can sometimes be impossible if teams are playing back-to-back games. We want to get our picks up as close as possible to the opening lines so we can get on the early line value, but team news and research is always key to making the best possible NHL Picks.

NHL Picks Against the Spread

NHL betting has a 1.5-goal spread known as the puck line (PL). Again just like baseball betting has the run line (-1.5). NHL wagers are exciting until the very last second of the game as teams often pull their goaltender near the end to get an extra skater on the ice. All of a sudden an empty-net goal pushes your NHL free pick to victory – or defeat. Betting on the puck line provides better payout odds and NHL picks against the spread can also be pushed to higher numbers such as -2.5 or 3.5 goals for an even better return on investment.

Free NHL Over / Under Picks

Most games are listed right around 5.5 goals in the NHL. The total number of goals is the total of combined goals by both teams and you can either select over or under the total. If the line is 5.5 and you wish to wager on the over then the total combined goals for the game must be 6 or more for you to cash your ticket.

NHL over/under betting is an interesting wager. A huge factor to take into consideration is the goaltenders as they have a huge part to play in influencing the number of goals in the game. A goaltender’s Goals Against Average (GAA) is a key stat to measure the effectiveness of a goaltender.

NHL Consensus Picks

NHL Consensus Picks is a way of saying the popular pick or often referred to as a public pick. What this actually means is where the majority of the bets are being placed. If we’re looking at Money Line markets, for example, if 70% of the tickets are on the Pittsburgh Penguins to beat the New York Islanders, then the Penguins are the consensus pick for that game. Bettors can use this in their research or check possible line moves in the lead-up to a game.

Ice Hockey Betting Picks

Our ice hockey betting picks will typically follow and feature on the NHL season with picks and Predictions available all season long. Our experts will be primed and ready in times of Olympic years and select other competitions throughout the year too. Our ice hockey picks, as expected will include picks on the money line, puck line, totals, and several player and team Hockey Prop Bets
