That game went to overtime, so I expect the Mammoth to have the rest advantage. The Mammoth come into this game riding a three-game winning streak, and this good play is coming at a good time as they are trying to hang on to one of the wild-card playoff spots in the western conference. They should have an easy time shutting down the offense of the Blackhawks as the Mammoth are the fourth-best defensive team in the league. They average 2.75 goals against per game. The Blackhawks are one of the worst offensive teams, averaging 2.63 goals per game and they average the fewest shots on goal per game at 24.5.

With where these two teams are currently at, I expect the Mammoth to come out with a better performance. They have some elite talent at the top of their lineup, led by Clayton Keller, that outside of Connor Bedard the Blackhawks cannot match. Give me Utah in this one.

Colorado has won 3 in a row, allowing just 4 total goals, or 1.33 goals per game, since that 5-2 loss to Minnesota just over a week ago. The under is 2-0-1 in the past 3 games and 5-2-1 across the previous 8 outings. Colorado goaltenders Mac Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood have each allowed 2 or fewer goals in 7 of the past 8 games. The Bruins also struggle with clean play, as they currently lead the NHL with the most penalty opportunities against them. With so many chances, the opposing teams have scored 51 power play goals against the Bruins. As if the penalty kill struggles aren’t enough, the Bruins give up 30 shots per game, which ranks 5^th in the NHL. Overall, the Bruins defense can be a concern.

For the Penguins, they are riding a 3-game losing streak, but still remain in 7^th in the Eastern Conference. On the season, they average 3.34 goals while only allowing 2.82 goals per game. The Penguins also score on 25.3% of their power plays, which could be huge against a sloppy Bruins squad. Finally, these teams have faced off twice this year, and the Bruins came away victorious both times. The interesting thing is that the Bruins were outshot in both of those games. Given all this information, I believe the Penguins offense will come alive after a difficult defeat in penalties last night. I am taking the Penguins on the money line.

Additionally, the team may have to play without Spencer Knight again due to illness. The odds are stacked against them, but can they pull off another upset?

On the other hand, the Stars recently had their winning streak snapped by the Colorado Avalanche, who came back to win in a shootout. Dallas is missing key players like Mikko Rantanen and Roope Hintz, but they cannot use this as an excuse. The team boasts a deep offensive lineup and an above-average defensive group. While goaltending has been an issue throughout the season, Casey DeSmith has performed well, with a record of 13-4-5, a 2.25 GAA, and a .914 SV%. There is a good chance he will start this game, which would provide a significant boost for the entire team. Overall, Dallas is the stronger team and should be able to exploit the Blackhawks’ below-average defence, allowing them to score multiple goals and potentially cover the puck line.

The New Jersey Devils are starting to turn a corner offensively. They have struggled to find consistent goal-scoring all season long, as they rank 29th in the NHL scoring 2.57 goals per game. However, they have found a groove lately, scoring 18 total goals over their last 4 games. Jack Hughes broke an extended goal drought with a hat trick on Saturday against the Rangers, which is a great sign that he is getting back on track. The Wings rank in the bottom-3rd of the NHL in terms of goals per game allowed, and with the way the Devils are rolling, New Jersey could have another solid chance to have a strong offensive game.

Jacob Markstrom has also found a groove between the pipes for New Jersey, but he was in action on Saturday, meaning we will most likely see veteran backup Jake Allen in this one. Allen has not played since February 25, so there’s a decent chance he shows some rust. The Red Wings will be without Dylan Larkin due to a lower body injury, but the offensive core led by Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat should be able to give Allen some problems. Detroit also added a right-handed defenseman in Justin Faulk at the deadline, and his great puck-moving ability should help with breakouts from the defensive zone. His presence should help the Detroit offense get rolling. With a total of 5.5, the over is the play.
