The offense has come alive in the past four games, averaging 5.5 goals per game (GPG), while allowing 3.3 GPG, so that’s been a great recipe for the Over lately. In fact, the Over is 3-0-1 in the past four games, and 2-0-1 in the past three games on the road, too. While goaltenders Jet Greaves and Elvis Merzlikins have been ticking off wins, they haven’t exactly been standing on their collective heads, either.

The Devils were dropped 4-1 on Saturday in Ottawa, cashing the Under, but the Over has  3-2 edge in the past five games. At home, the Under is 5-1 in the past 6 games, so tread lightly on the Over. However, with the way Columbus has not only been lighting the lamp, but giving up goals, the Over is the way to go. The Over is 2-0-1 in the past three meetings between these teams in Newark, too, with a total of 23 combined goals scored in the span, or 7.7 GPG. Go high, and feel confident in doing so.

The Carolina Hurricanes will be hosting the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. The Senators will be coming into this game on the second half of a back-to-back. The Senators are playing well coming into this game, riding a four-game winning streak, and they are 2-0 since the return of netminder Linus Ullmark. Since it is a back-to-back, James Reimer is projected to get the start for the Senators. This will be no easy game for the Sens, going up against a Hurricanes team that is very good on home ice. I am expecting a similar outcome in this game as the Hurricanes play a very solid defensive game. They are averaging 2.85 goals against per game, which is ranked inside the top 10 in the NHL. The Washington Capitals will take on the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday night. The Capitals come into this one winning their last 3 games. Thanks to this form, the Capitals are now only 2 points behind the New York Islanders for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. This should give them some motivation in this game. In what should be an entertaining matchup to watch unfold, the Buffalo Sabres are set to battle the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Both the Sabres and the Lightning enter this contest playing great hockey, with both sides having won 6 of their last 7 games respectively. The Sabres are playing on the second half of a road back-to-back after they defeated the Panthers by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Buffalo offense has been clicking, but they could be stymied by a defensively stout Tampa Bay team playing at home. The Bolts are allowing just 2.68 goals per game at home this season, which is the 5th-best mark in the NHL. That success has been seen lately, as they’ve allowed just 2 total goals in their last 3 games at Benchmark International Arena. Andrei Vasilevskiy is also in a groove, as he owns a stellar .926 save percentage since the start of January.

Tampa Bay is coming off a wild 6-5 shootout victory over the Bruins in Sunday’s Stadium Series at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The Lightning were down 5-1 in the 2nd period before mounting the impressive comeback. After such an emotional win in a unique environment, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bolts be a tad sluggish to begin this game. This is the first meeting between these teams this season, so they could take some time to get a feel for each other’s game plan early on. With that in mind, look to the under.

It’s a classic Metropolitan Division matchup as the New York Islanders host the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is the second of four meetings this season, with a 4-3 win for Pittsburgh in October. With both teams extremely close in the standings, the game should have a playoff-like atmosphere, which in turn could leave little room for goals. The Islanders come into this one with the 8th-lowest goals per game total (2.80), but have thrived with the third-best goals against per game total (2.71). This should minimize a strong Penguins offense. In fact, I expect less from both offensive groups, as they are both playing their second on as many nights with travel. Both teams have also produced excellent penalty kills, both within the top ten and above 82%. I expect physicality and sound defensive play to be the story here, so let’s take the under here.
