Dayton vs Marquette Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Marquette -5.5(-110)

The Dayton Flyers will travel to Milwaukee on Wednesday night to play a non-conference game against the Marquette Golden Eagles. Marquette will look to defend its home floor after losing to Maryland at home in its last game. The Golden Eagles were unable to stop Maryland’s offense, allowing 89 points, but I expect them to bounce back in this matchup. The spread is currently set for 5.5 points in favor of Marquette and my best of this game is for the favorites to cover.

Dayton has not looked good in its 4 games this year. The Flyers are 3-1 on the season but barely beat Bethune-Cookman (9-point margin) and UMBC (6 points). That gives me concern that they can’t compete with Marquette. Marquette has 2 losses, but those have come to Indiana and Maryland. They blew out lesser opponents in their 3 wins at home.

The Golden Eagles should win the rebounding battle in this matchup, and I believe that will ultimately be the difference. According to KenPom, Dayton’s ranked just #278 in offensive rebounding percentage and #180 in defensing rebounding percentage. The Flyers do not get many second-chance points, and that has hurt their offense. They are not a good 3-point shooting team, either, as they are ranked #290 in 3-point percentage. I do see their offense being good enough to stay within the spread.

Dayton vs Marquette prediction: Marquette -5.5 (-110) available at time of publishing, Playable to 6.
