Grand Canyon Antelopes vs Boise State Broncos Prediction, Odds and Picks for Wednesday, 01/07/26

Wednesday’s amazing college basketball card will wrap up with a Mountain West showdown between the 8-5 Grand Canyon Antelopes and the 9-5 Boise State Broncos at 11:00 pm on FS1. The ‘Lopes come into this contest off a 10-point home loss to Colorado State, which ended their 3-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Broncos lost by 3 in 3OT at San Diego State on Saturday, as they now have lost 2 of their last 3 after a 4-game winning streak. 

Given the low total, grabbing 8 points with Grand Canyon makes a lot of sense on the surface. However, I have trouble getting there with the Antelopes on the road in this spot, even if this isn’t the best spot for Boise State, either. The ‘Lopes grade very well defensively, but that has come against an offensive strength of schedule that ranks 211th. On the other end of the floor, Grand Canyon is 180th in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency, 216th in effective field goal percentage and 215th turnover rate, which is concerning considering it has played a defensive strength of schedule that ranks 339th. 

Boise State has been inconsistent this year, but the Broncos have been solid defensively for the most part – particularly at home, where they yield just a 44.4% effective field goal percentage. They currently sit top-25 in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency, which is impressive considering they have played an offensive strength of schedule that ranks 12th. Grand Canyon really wants to get to the rim to buoy its scoring, but Boise State is stout defensively in that area and has the requisite size to negate that action. As such, I will lean to the Broncos, but it’s not my most confident pick today.
