Saint Mary's Gaels vs Gonzaga Bulldogs Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 01/31/26

The Saint Mary’s Gaels will travel to Spokane on Saturday night for a West Coast Conference matchup against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. This long time WCC rivalry will end following this season when Gonzaga goes to the new PAC-12 but hopefully they continue to play in the non-conference. The Zags have dominated the rivalry overall but the Gales have won four out of the last six games between these two. I do not see Saint Mary’s winning this game, but I do see this game being a low scoring affair. The total is currently set at 145.5 points, and I expect that to be under.

The under is my best bet of the game because both Saint Mary’s and Gonzaga have great defenses and Saint Mary’s will look to slow the game down as much as possible. In the last seven games between these two teams, no game has finished above 145 points. The last game finished 58-51 and this one might not be that low scoring, but the total should still be under.  According to KenPom, Gonzaga’s defense is ranked #1 in adjusted efficiency, #1 in effective field goal percentage and #1 in two-point percentage in conference play. Saint Mary’s defense is ranked #1 in three-point percentage in conference play, so I do not see this game being high scoring. The Gales offense is ranked #315 in average possession length, so the game should be very slow, and the possession count should be low. Take the under.
