Syracuse Orange vs NC State Wolfpack Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 01/27/26

The Syracuse Orange will take their 3-game losing streak on the road to Raleigh on Tuesday night to play the NC State Wolfpack. The recent slip-ups against Boston College (OT), Virginia Tech and Miami highlight how low the floor can be with Syracuse, whose only win over a KenPom Top-100 team came at home against Tennessee back on December 2nd. Meanwhile, NC State has been a bit of a roller coaster with similar struggles against top-tier competition, as well as a head-scratching home loss to Georgia Tech just 10 days ago. An overtime win at Clemson following that loss to GT helps the optics, but something has been off with Will Wade’s squad. 

Coming off 2 straight home losses, I’m expecting a focused effort here from the Wolfpack, but I don’t trust this team enough to lay double digits. The motivation factor works in Syracuse’s favor ahead of this matchup as well, considering the Orange have lost 3 in a row to drop under .500 in conference play after a 3-1 start. That said, I’m leaning toward an over in the Lenovo Center on Tuesday night. Both of these teams play with above average pace, and they both have shot particularly well from deep in conference play, with NC State knocking down over 40% of three-pointers against ACC foes and Syracuse knocking down more than 38.5%. 

NC State should be able to find easy buckets in transition too, as the Wolfpack love to force turnovers and are in the 95th percentile in points scored off those takeaways. Syracuse will oblige given their second-worst turnover rate in conference play. The Orange average over 12 turnovers per game on the road, and they are closer to 13 per game in their last 3 overall. Moreover, both defenses are relatively undisciplined and foul their conference opponents at a high rate, so expect ample free throws here. It’s over or pass in this one.
