UNLV vs Memphis Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Over 161.5(-110)

The UNLV Running Rebels and the Memphis Tigers will face off inside FedEx Forum for a non-conference showdown. The Tigers beat the Running Rebels last season in Las Vegas 80-74 and will look to sweep the series with another win at home on Sunday. The spread is currently set at 10.5 points, but my best bet of the game is the over. The total is 161.5 and I believe the total will end up over that.

The over is my best bet because neither team has been impressive on defense so far this season and both teams will look to play at a fast pace. UNLV is coming off a loss to Montana, where they gave up 102 points and allowed them to shoot 55 percentage from the field. According to KenPom, UNLV’s defense is ranked #200 nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, #290 in effective field goal percentage, #241 in three-point percentage and #293 in two-point percentage. Memphis’ defense is ranked poorly too, making the over a great play. The Tiger’s defense is ranked #341 in three-point percentage and #253 in effective field goal percentage. Both teams defense has not looked good this season, so there should be no shortage of points.

The expected fast pace of the play should add possessions and allow the total to go over the number. Memphis is ranked #53 in adjusted tempo and UNLV is ranked #74. The Running Rebels like to get shots up quickly on offense as they are ranked #37 in average offensive possession length. The pace should be fast, and the offense should be good enough for the over to hit. Take the over here.
