Georgia Southern vs Fresno State Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Georgia Southern Eagles of the Sun Belt Conference head west to battle the Fresno State Bulldogs of the Mountain West Conference after the Bulldogs lost to Kansas in Week 0. Head coach Clay Helton has found a home down south, and his Eagles are expected to make noise in the Sun Belt, perhaps nipping at the heels of James Madison to be the top dog. There’s a reason the sportsbooks likely have them installed as slight favorites on the road. However, while QB JC French is back, he needs to cut down his miscues considerably, especially in critical situations.
The Bulldogs pushed the reset button hard, and Valley Football will have a very different look this season. Matt Entz is the new head football coach, and he has worked with some big names in the past at the FCS level prior to taking over as head honcho at North Dakota State – a perennial powerhouse. Unfortunately for Fresno, a lot of the best players from a rather mediocre 2024 team are gone, including the top two signal callers, 3 top receivers and a bevy of O-linemen. The defense is going to look completely (or mostly) brand new, too. However, like everywhere else, hope springs eternal thanks to the transfer portal. They’re home, and looking to start on a good note after last week’s loss at Kansas. It might be super close, but Fresno is worth a look as short ‘dogs on the moneyline.
