Georgia Tech vs Boston College Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Georgia Tech -16.5(-110)

The last time Georgia Tech hit the field, the Yellow Jackets suffered their first loss of the season at NC State 48-36. Some would argue it was a long time coming for GT, who barely snuck past Clemson and Wake Forest earlier in the year, but the Yellow Jackets were playing sound football up until that trip to Raleigh. Since then, GT has had a week off to recoup and re-focus on the goal at hand. Wins at Boston College this week and against Pitt at home next week should solidify Tech’s spot in the ACC Championship in Charlotte, so expect a focused effort from Brent Key’s group here.

Unlike Georgia Tech, Boston College is not off a bye, nor are the Eagles playing for anything. In fact, BC is just 1-9 this season and has failed to cover in 5 of its last 7 games. Opponents consistently have surpassed 35 points against the Eagles for over a month, and I’m not convinced that’s going to change this week. The Eagles have been abysmal against the run, which is exactly the point at which Georgia Tech wants to attack offensively. In fact, BC is 123rd in yards per carry and 125th in rushing touchdowns allowed on the season as a whole, in addition to 111th in PPA per rush and 131st in standard downs PPA outside of garbage time since Week 7. No matter how you shake it, BC can’t stop the run.

Meanwhile, GT has one of the best run games in the country with RB Jamal Haynes, RB Malachi Hosley, and QB Haynes King. This is a massive number to lay with a road team in conference play, but oddsmakers couldn’t give me enough points to feel excited about backing Boston College.

Georgia Tech vs Boston College prediction: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets -16.5 (-110) at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
