Kentucky Wildcats vs South Carolina Gamecocks Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 09/27/25
Kentucky vs South Carolina Pickswise Expert Predictions
Following a week off, the Kentucky Wildcats hit the road for the first time this season when they head to Columbia, South Carolina to play the Gamecocks under the lights at Williams-Brice Stadium. The Wildcats are 2-1 with a couple wins over MAC teams and a loss to their only SEC opponent, Ole Miss. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks hope to snap a two-game skid after an embarrassing home loss to Vanderbilt, in which LaNorris Sellers was knocked out of the game, and a 29-20 loss at Missouri last week as 10.5-point underdogs. For what it’s worth, the Wildcats won 7 of 8 games in this series from 2014 to 2021, but the Gamecocks have taken three in a row since then.
While Kentucky benefits from a bye week ahead of this matchup, I struggle to trust the Wildcats enough defensively to take the points in their game away from home against what should be a very hungry South Carolina squad looking to improve on an 0-2 start in SEC play. The Gamecocks need this game if they want to make a bowl, much less have an outside shot at the College Football Playoff, and they should be able to put up points against a Kentucky team that was outgained against Toledo and surrendered 461 yards to Eastern Michigan in Week 3.
On the other side of the ball, the Wildcats lack a consistent passing attack, ranking outside the top 125 in passing downs PPA and PPA per pass. The Gamecocks have a massive quarterback advantage here with Sellers, and with an electric atmosphere surrounding him under the lights in Columbia, look for him to lead his team to a win and cover.
Kentucky vs South Carolina prediction: South Carolina Gamecocks -6.5 (-110) at the time of publishing. Playable to -6.5 (-120).
