Sam Houston State vs New Mexico State Pickswise Expert Predictions
The winless Sam Houston State Bearkats hit the road to take on the New Mexico State Aggies in a Conference USA tilt at 9 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. It’s the standalone game in college football that night, too. I don’t know how many people are excited about this game outside of a small sliver of Texas and extreme southern New Mexico, but I am fired up for this game. And, hopefully the scoreboard operator at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces limbers up, because he/she is going to be extremely busy on Thursday night, as are any cheerleaders doing push-ups for each score.
Sam Houston has allowed at least 37 points in all four of its games to date, while scoring at least 20 points in three of those outings. It was dusted 55-0 at Texas on Sept. 20, but that’s the only game it didn’t get to at least 20 points. On the road, it is averaging 22.0 PPG while allowing 39.0 PPG. Oh, and the Bearkats are 0-4 against the spread (ATS), too, if you’re a same-game parlay (SGP) bettor. The Aggies topped FCS Bryant and Tulsa earlier this season, while losing by at least 18 points in the past two road games at Louisiana Tech and rival New Mexico. The Aggies have allowed 43.5 PPG in the past two games, and it has scored at least 19 points in three of four games, cashing the Over in the past two. Both of these teams, desperate for a win, are going to take full advantage of a lack of resistance from the other. Expect a ton of points in this Thursday game in the Land of Enchantment.
Over 53 (-110) at time of publishing. Playable to 56.5.
