Western Michigan Broncos vs Michigan State Spartans Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/29/25
Western Michigan vs Michigan State Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Western Michigan Broncos head east on Interstate 94, then north on I-69 to East Lansing for this in-state battle against the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday. This is the 18th all-time meeting, with Michigan State leading the series 15-2, including 13 straight wins. Western Michigan’s last win in the series came on Oct. 11, 1919, so it’s been a while. The most recent meeting was in East Lansing, with a 35-13 MSU victory on Sept. 2, 2022. The margin of victory in the past 7 meetings has been by 13 or more points. Western Michigan has just 2 starters back on offense, and that’s a concern, although the Broncos did well in the portal to restock the cupboard.
Michigan State just missed a bowl last season, winning 5 games. However, in the 2nd year with coach Jonathan Smith at the helm, we could see an increase in production. QB Aidan Chiles has the potential to be a star in the Big Ten, as he is a solid dual threat option. However, he was also a bit erratic with his production, and he and the team sputtered down the stretch. WR Nick Marsh and TE Jack Velling give Chiles two solid targets. The run game is a work in progress, but Smith added portal guys from lower-level schools hoping to pluck a lottery ticket. The defense was very good, and Western Michigan could find the sledding tough. However, 21 points is an awfully big number.
