Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Diego Padres Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/27/25

The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres are wrapping up the season in southern California this weekend. There is really nothing at stake for either team in terms of the playoffs. The Padres are locked into the second wild card slot, and their goal is to make sure everyone is sharp and healthy, and that their pitching is rested and lined up. The Diamondbacks can still technically get into a tie for the final wild card spot, but they lose the tiebreakers, so they are out now. Still, I think the D-Backs will keep competing, and there is a strong chance they win this game. There is definitely a strong enough chance for me to chase the plus money price. I’ll take Arizona to win on Saturday.

Eduardo Rodriguez and Michael King will start. I have serious concerns about King as he has returned from the IL. His stuff doesn’t look right, and he is getting hit hard. In his last outing against the White Sox, he kept them off the scoreboard for 5 innings, but he also walked 4 in the process. If the Padres get a few clean innings out of him, they will likely pull him, just for the sake of confidence. E-Rod has been fine for Arizona, turning in 4 quality starts in his last 5 outings, all against playoff teams or playoff contenders. He’s certainly not my favorite pitcher, but he keeps turning in professional outings and probably will again today. With San Diego interested in some factors other than winning, this game could easily swing toward the Snakes.
