Atlanta Braves vs Detroit Tigers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/19/25

The Atlanta Braves head to Detroit to face the Tigers for the weekend. The Tigers are suddenly in a dogfight with the Guardians after the Guardians just swept the Tigers. The division lead is down to 3.5 games, and those teams still have a series head-to-head next week. Detroit even dropped a Tarik Skubal game yesterday, and the lineup looked tight and frustrated as it felt the pressure. Now the Tigers will also be scoreboard watching, adding to the weight. Meanwhile, the Braves have been playing excellent meaningless baseball down the stretch. They have won 5 in a row, including smacking around the lowly Nats this week. I like the Braves’ chances winning this one on Friday.

Charlie Morton will start for the Tigers, facing one of his many former teams. Morton is trying to reach the finish line, but boy is he struggling. He hasn’t made it beyond the fourth inning in his last 3 starts, which is really bad news for Detroit with how overtaxed the bullpen is. The relief staff has worked overtime in the last several days, and they don’t get an off day until Monday. Meanwhile, the Braves had the day off yesterday — everyone comes in rested and loose. They give the ball to Bryce Elder, who had a bad start last time against Houston — breaking a stretch of 4 quality starts against playoff teams (Mets, Phillies, Cubs twice). Detroit is in trouble down the stretch, so I am fading them on Friday.
