Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 06/23/25

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will go head-to-head for their 2nd series in 2 weeks, with the Braves taking all 3 games in Atlanta last week. The Mets have dropped in the standings, giving way to the Phillies to reclaim the top spot in the NL East, as the Braves stand in 3rd place and 6 games below .500. The momentum has begun to shift, however, with the Braves securing wins in 7 of their last 10 games, while the Mets have dropped 8 of their last 9, including a 7-game losing streak at one point. Monday night will be the first of a 4-game series at Citi Field and will pin Atlanta starter Spencer Schwellenbach up against Paul Blackburn for the Mets.

Schwellenbach has been fantastic for the Braves this season, compiling a 3.26 ERA across 15 starts, with a chase rate in the 94th percentile. Most importantly, Schwellenbach limits baserunners and provides tremendous length, taking pressure off the Braves’ bullpen. Schwellenbach has gone at least 6.0 innings in his last 8 outings, including a complete game against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 11. Blackburn has been limited for the Mets this season, spending the bulk of his time on assignment in Syracuse and making just 4 appearances for the Mets. Over those 4 appearances, Blackburn owns a 6.92 ERA and surrendered 3 earned runs across 3.2 innings against the Braves last Wednesday in a 5-0 Atlanta win. The Braves have the pitching advantage along with some momentum entering this series, and I’ll back them to take care of business on Monday night in Queens.
