Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/28/25

The Atlanta Braves will face the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. Atlanta is coming off a winning series against the Miami Marlins, while the Phillies got swept by the Mets. On the mound are Cal Quantrill of the Braves and Aaron Nola of the Phillies. Quantrill was recently acquired by ATL and has made only had 1 start since then. In that appearance, he gave up 5 hits and 3 runs in 4.2 innings against the New York Mets. While 3 runs isn’t great, the Mets are batting .327 over the past 7 games, with that game included. This may be good news against a Phillies team that is batting .227 with only 21 runs over the past 6 games.

For the Phillies, Nola is having a difficult year with a 6.52 ERA and a 2-7 record. In his last 4 starts, he has given up 21 runs in 17 innings pitched. These numbers are good for any opposing team, but especially an Atlanta club that has scored 23 runs over the past 2 days. The recent hitting surge for the Braves has taken some pressure off the pitching which has allowed for them to only give up 3 runs over the past 2 games. These are great trends going up against the slumping Phillies. Outside of the starters, the Phillies’ bullpen has been struggling and currently has a 4.43 ERA on the season. Overall, I would give the edge in pitching, hitting and bullpen play to the Braves. I’m picking the home side for an upset on Sunday.
