The final game of the Saturday slate is the Baltimore Orioles vs the Athletics. The A’s won Friday’s game, 5-4, and seem to have put their nightmarish losing streak behind them. They have won 2 in a row, which isn’t much, but after a nearly 20-game losing streak, it has to feel good. The Orioles, on the other hand, saw a 6-game winning streak snapped last night. So where do we go on Saturday? I’m looking for the Orioles to win the game, evening the series.
When it comes to this pitching matchup, good luck staking any sort of claim with confidence. On the one side, we have Father Time Charlie Morton. Morton was so bad to begin the season that he got exiled to the bullpen, presumed to be washed up. Then he figured it out again and has made a couple solid starts in a row. On the other side is Luis Severino. In just his last 5 starts, he has 3 quality starts bookended by 8-run disasters. We will probably just end up in a slugfest, but at least a healthy Baltimore lineup can stack up the lefty bats, and that looks like an advantage to me. Here’s hoping Morton really did figure things out.
