Both teams scored 3 in the first inning, then Baltimore led 5-3 at the midpoint. Cleveland eventually took apart the bullpen arms for the O’s and put the game away comfortably, underscoring a key difference between these teams: the bullpens. Tuesday’s game should rely heavily on both ‘pens, and that is plenty of reason to back the Guardians to win. My Orioles vs Guardians best bet is Cleveland on the money line.
We have a pair of young arms on the mound that are unlikely to throw deep into this game. For the Orioles, it is rookie Brandon Young. In his last outing he gave up 7 to the Marlins, including 3 homers to Kyle Stowers alone. Honestly, I think the Orioles have just given up on their pitching staff at this point. The Guardians will throw Joey Cantillo, who has worked out of the bullpen until just recently. Both guys are likely to give up some runs, and both will be on a very limited pitch count, so this game will be in the hands of the bullpens fairly early. It does merit mention, however, that the Orioles are dead last in the league in slugging percentage vs LHP — which should also give Cleveland the advantage in the early innings. Regardless, the Baltimore bullpen is one of the 5 or 6 worst units in the league — and that should get exposed on Tuesday. Give me the Guardians to win this game, sooner or later.
