Orioles vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions

Run Line Pick
NY Yankees Win -1.5(-110)

Yesterday I wrote that I was backing the Yankees because form and pitching all align for the New York Yankees to win by the necessary margin. Well today that premise has been enhanced. New York has now won 12 of their last 14, including the first two games in this series. Yesterday, the Pinstripes handled business and sent the O’s packing with a 9-4 win over Baltimore. Now, the pitching matchup makes a sweep likely and done so with emphasis.  On the mound, New York sends out their ace, Max Fried. The lefty has been dominant, thus far: 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA. Fried is the kind of pitcher who can dominate and do so into the late innings. That’s all the Yankees need to build margin and never look back when we consider their offensive potency combined with the context of the Orioles’ starting pitching. Baltimore counters with Trey Gibson, a pitching prospect set to make his MLB debut. Gibson while promising, draws a nightmare venue to get his feet wet and if he makes the mistakes that could be expected with a fledgling arm, he could be in trouble quick against New York’s lineup.

Gibson also likely won’t be going deep. Which means once again the critical bullpen wrinkle is in play too. Baltimore’s pen is already maligned, but put that on top of a rookie pitcher making his debut against a hot offense while having to battle a Cy Young-worthy arm on the hill, and the recipe for a win at margin is all the more evident. The Yankees are built to create separation yet again, and likely able to do so by even bigger margins. I am coming right back on the Yanks to get this done on the run line, and at a standard vig, this is too good to pass up.

Orioles vs Yankees prediction: New York -1.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
