Orioles vs Padres Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Baltimore Orioles head to San Diego for a three-game set against the Padres. San Diego enters this series just two games behind the Dodgers in the NL West and will be looking to take advantage of a weak Baltimore team. The Orioles have now dropped eight of their last ten games and all this team is looking to do is to finish out what’s been a very disappointing season.
Dylan Cease will get the start for the Padres, entering with a 6-11 record and 4.82 ERA. It’s been a tough season for Cease, and in his last three starts, he’s 1-1 with a 7.82 ERA, throwing just 12.2 innings in those three outings. For the Orioles, Kyle Bradish will be making his second start of the season. In his first start, Bradish pitched six strong innings against the Red Sox, allowing just two earned runs and striking out 10. Offensively, both teams are fairly similar, with the Orioles averaging 4.6 runs per game in their last 10 and the Padres averaging 5.1 runs per game. The Padres are decent favorites in this one, and rightfully so, but I’m going to back the over in this one. The Orioles bullpen has struggled in their last couple of games, and I expect Cease to give up a few runs as well to help push this game over today’s total.
