Baltimore Orioles vs San Diego Padres Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/03/25

The San Diego Padres didn’t expect to drop the first two games of this series to the Baltimore Orioles, and now they’re staring at the possibility of a sweep in a matchup they were favored to win. San Diego has lost three straight and seven of its last ten, though they remain just 2.5 games back in the NL West. Hoping to get his team a much needed win, Nestor Cortes will take the mound for the Padres, who enters with a 2-3 record and 5.06 ERA. 

For the Orioles, Cade Povich will get the nod, entering with a 2-7 record and 5.04 ERA. The Padres have struggled against lefties this year, batting just .245, and they’ll need to find a way to get their offense going in this one. The Orioles are averaging 4.1 runs per game in their last 10, slightly behind the Padres at 4.6 runs per game. However, the Padres hold a 5.23 team ERA in that same span, while the Orioles hold a 4.40 team ERA. This isn’t the Padres team we’re used to seeing, and I can’t trust them in tonight’s matchup given the way Cortes has pitched lately. At the end of the day, I expect both starters to struggle and there should be plenty of runs scored in this one, which is why I’ll be backing the over as my best bet of the day.
