Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/25/25

The Boston Red Sox begin a series with the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. The Red Sox may have lost on Sunday night, but they had a strong weekend in the Bronx, taking 3 of 4 from the Yankees. The Orioles did not far as well in Houston, losing 3 of 4 to the Astros. The young Oriole lineup has finally gotten healthy and started hitting lately, but they are still hamstrung by their pitching staff. I think that will get exposed as this series goes along, but even in the opener, I like Boston on the Money Line here.

Boston will use an opener followed by Richard Fitts. Fitts has been nothing special this season, but the Orioles have not yet seen him, which might provide at least some advantage to the hard-throwing rookie. The Birds will give the ball to Tomoyuki Sugano. Sugano has been running hot lately, including a strong start against the Sox last week in which he went 5 innings and allowed only a single unearned run. Still, I prefer to fade Sugano, as I am rather unconvinced of his appeal. The hitters should have the advantage the second time around, after only seeing him a week ago. Baltimore is definitely not the doormat they were earlier in the season, but I still prefer the Red Sox on Monday night.
