Red Sox vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions

Boston Red Sox
Money Line Pick
NY Yankees Win(-165)

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will require all 3 games to settle their Wild Card Series, and they will meet in the final game of the night on Thursday. The Red Sox won the first game behind a fantastic effort by Garrett Crochet. The Yankees tied the series on Wednesday as the bullpen locked things down. We can expect an all-hands-on-deck effort on Thursday as well, especially with two rookie pitchers taking the ball to start the game. While I am hesitant to go hard on this game because I suspect Alex Cora could outfox and outmaneuver Aaron Boone when it counts, I think the Yankees are better and in a better situation. I’ll take the Yankees on the money line.

We have two rookie pitchers in Cam Schlitter and Connelly Early. Schlitter has been in the rotation most of the season for New York, and he has been excellent. Early has made just 4 starts, and while he has been outstanding, I worry about him with that little MLB experience on this stage. The Yankees have the advantage on the mound, and I also like the back end of their bullpen better as well. They can’t keep riding the same 3 bullpen arms every night for the next month, but they probably can on Thursday. I think the Yankee bats will do enough to get the job done, especially at home in an elimination game.

Red Sox vs Yankees prediction: New York Yankees ML (-160) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
