Cubs vs Guardians Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
CHI Cubs Win(-125)

The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Guardians open a weekend series this afternoon in Cleveland. Both teams are off to and even start to the season. The Cubs took 2 of 3 from the Angels earlier in the week, while the schedule makers have been brutal to the Guardians, sending them to the west coast to open against Seattle and then the Dodgers. Still, the Guards came out of that well, even taking 2 of 3 from LA. On Friday, we get Cade Horton vs Joey Cantillo, a couple of guys who both tend to draw a lot of weak contact. I am taking the Cubs on the Money Line in this one, although it isn’t my strongest feeling on the day by any means.

Both teams will be on the strong side of the platoon advantage with their lineup, as the Guards can stack up lefties against Horton, and the Cubs can stack righties against Cantillo. Cantillo is oddly a reverse split pitcher though, so that might not benefit Chicago. The Cubs are due for some positive regression on offense, and I am looking for that this afternoon. The Guards were led by the scorching hot start of rookie Chase DeLauter, but they have struggled at the dish since he fouled a ball off his foot. He is questionable for tonight, but we will need to see him get back to work before feeling good about this Cleveland offense. Call this a lean more than anything else, but let’s take the Cubs.

Cubs vs Guardians prediction: Chicago ML (-125) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
