Chicago Cubs vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/22/25

The Chicago Cubs open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night, hoping they can get their offense going. Chicago did take three of five from the Brewers in their last series, but over their past 10 games they’ve averaged just 2.9 runs while batting .200. The Angels have been slightly better in that span, averaging 4.8 runs per game with a .234 team batting average. 

Taking the mound for the Cubs will be Ben Brown who enters with a 5-7 record and 5.91 ERA. In Brown’s last three starts, he hasn’t pitched more than four innings, posting a 3.38 ERA and he’ll look to go a little deeper in this start to give his bullpen a rest. For the Angels, the left-hander Tyler Anderson will get the nod who enters with a 2-8 record and 4.77 ERA. Anderson has not won a game since April 18th, and in his last three starts he’s 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA. Both of these teams have struggled at the plate, so it’s hard to trust either of them in tonight’s matchup. However, the Cubs are a playoff contender for a reason, the Angels are not. Look for the Cubs to find a way to get their offense going against Anderson tonight and steal game one of this series.
