It could be another long year for the Chicago White Sox. The Milwaukee Brewers hosted the AL Central’s worst team for the first series of the season, and through the first 2 games, outscored them 20-3. After a 14-2 win on Thursday, Chicago kept it a little more respectable on Saturday with a 6-1 defeat. No matter how you look at it, it has been complete domination.

The White Sox will send Anthony Kay to the mound on Sunday, making his first start in the majors since the 2023 season. Kay went to Japan after failing to keep a job in North America and had a very successful 2025 season with Yokohama, recording a 1.74 ERA. Kay was a former top prospect in the New York Mets organization and made his debut with the Toronto Blue Jays after coming over in the Marcus Stroman trade. The belief was that he might get a bullpen role with the White Sox starting out, but he is now going out as the tertiary starter in the rotation.

The Brewers will counter with Brandon Sproat, who appeared in 4 games for the Mets last season before joining the Brewers in the Freddy Peralta trade. The hope for the Brewers is that Sproat can make a seamless transition into their rotation and start contributing after some mixed results in his 4 appearances for New York. The good news for the young pitcher is that he gets a relatively easy debut against an abysmal White Sox offense.

The unpredictability of Kay’s return to the majors and Sproat’s struggles last season would normally give pause here, but the Brewers’ domination over the last two games gives me no reason to believe it’ll change here.
