Cincinnati Reds vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Odds and Picks for Monday, 06/09/25

Monday’s MLB slate gets going with the Cincinnati Reds vs Cleveland Guardians in a clash between these 2 Ohio rivals. The Reds swept the struggling Diamondbacks over the weekend, allowing only 6 runs in the process. I’m not sure how much to credit the Reds for that though, given the level of struggle right now for the D-backs. The Guardians, on the other hand, dropped 2 of 3 to both the Astros and Yankees last week. Their struggle is on offense, as they have yet to surpass 4 runs in a game this month. So while you can’t really trust the Cleveland offense enough to hazard a play on the run line, I think the money line should be a safe play. Here is a spot where we can take what should be easy money.

Why so easy? Did I mention that the Reds have somehow dug up the corpse of Wade Miley and re-signed him? Yeah, somehow at 38 years old, the soft-tossing lefty is back in the league. He wasn’t good when he was in the league before, and now he’s back (tell me again how there’s not a league-wide embargo on Trevor Bauer?). There is no universe where I am backing Miley. He tossed 2 innings last week and got blasted by the Brewers, and I expect more of the same tonight. Unfortunately, you can’t trust the Guards to just blow the doors off offensively — they have the 2nd-worst slugging percentage against LHP in the league — so I’m still just sticking with the money line. If that juice is too much for you, maybe pair it with a Ramirez hit or something to ease the price a bit, but my Reds vs Guardians pick is Cleveland to win.
