The Reds are set to continue their 7-game road trip on Monday night when they visit the Marlins at LoanDepot Park. Cincinnati’s road trip began with a 3-game sweep over the Rangers this weekend. All 3 of those games were low-scoring contests, but Monday’s series-opener in Miami could be different. Cincinnati starting pitcher Brandon Williamson started the season by allowing 6 hits and 6 earned runs through just 4.2 innings of work against Pittsburgh last week. This will be just his 5th MLB start over the last 2 seasons, and it seems he is still looking to find a groove on the hill. The Miami offense is off to a somewhat surprising hot start, as the Fish rank 3rd in the league with a team batting average of .276 and 6th in total runs wit 49. Williamson could have his hands full.

On the other side, right-hander Janson Junk will get the starting nod for the home team. Junk’s first start of the season was formidable, as he allowed 5 hits and 2 earned runs through 4.2 innings against the White Sox. However, Chicago’s offense is among the worst in the big leagues, and this matchup against Cincinnati presents a much tougher challenge. The Reds have a well-rounded lineup full of veteran hitters, and the should be able to do some damage against a pitcher like Junk who has a career ERA approaching 5.00. Look to the over in this one.
