Reds vs Mets Pickswise Expert Predictions

Cincinnati Reds
Run Line Pick
NY Mets -1.5(+120)

The Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets play an afternoon game on Saturday. The Reds lifted the lid on the second half with an 8-4 win on Friday, smacking several home runs in the process. The Reds darn near blew an 8-2 lead in the ninth, conceding a pair of runs and actually allowing the tying run to the plate. It looked to me like just about everything went the right way for the Reds on Friday, and that sort of good fortune probably swings back the other way on Saturday. The Mets are heavily juiced on the Money Line, so either you parlay that with a player prop or something, or you take the Run Line. My Reds vs Mets prediction is New York to cover -1.5, and it is a nice, juicy plus-money bet, as well.

We have two pitchers on the mound who rarely throw more than 85 pitches or so. Nick Martinez for the Reds is still in the rotation for now, but if he doesn’t go deep into the game, I don’t love the Cincy bullpen, especially after it was shaky in the ninth on Friday and Emilio Pagan had to work hard to close the door. The Mets will go with Clay Holmes. While he is usually a 5-and-dive guy, the Mets almost certainly will throw their best arms in relief because they have not pitched in a full week now. Look for the Mets to score a few early, and then exert some bullpen dominance late. I think they can cover this one.

Reds vs Mets prediction: New York -1.5 (+120) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
