The Reds will look to bounce back from their loss last night against the Cardinals as they send Chase Petty to the mound. Petty has made two starts on the season, both which have been short lived. Petty is 0-2 with a 21.94 ERA in those two games, and it’s unlikely he’ll find much success against this tough Cardinals team this afternoon.

For St. Louis, Sonny Gray will take the mound with a 7-2 record and a 3.84 ERA on the season. Gray has been a key piece for the Cardinals rotation, though he did struggle in his last start against the Brewers, allowing six earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Offensively, both teams have been swinging the bats well – over their last six games, the Cardinals are averaging 6.8 runs per game while the Reds are putting up 5.8. Looking at today’s matchup, I simply can’t trust Petty in this situation. Gray has been terrific all year and he had one minor hiccup in his last start, which I expect him to bounce back from. Look for the St. Louis to roll here and score early on against Petty, making the Cardinals my best bet of the day.
