Cincinnati Reds vs Texas Rangers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/04/26

The Texas Rangers host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night. The Reds took Friday’s series opener, 5-3, partly powered by an Elly De La Cruz home run. On Saturday, we get two promising young arms on the mound, albeit largely inexperienced ones, and that can introduce a lot of variance into this game. It is difficult to simply trust young arms to pitch predictably. I think that puts us in a good spot to take a shot at a plus-money underdog here. These are the spots where we want to live when betting baseball, so give me the Reds on the Money Line tonight.

Rhett Lowder had a good first start for the Reds. He has pitched limited innings in the last year or so due to injury, so they won’t likely leave him out there beyond 5 innings, but Lowder has a first round pedigree and a high ceiling. Likewise, Kumar Rocker has the pedigree, and the Rangers need him to stick. He will be making his season debut because tonight is the first time the Rangers have needed a 5^th starter. In general, there is a lot of risk with any pitcher on their first start of the season, and especially young ones. Rocker is capable of shutting down the Reds, but I am going to fade that first start of the year.
