In this game, we will see the Cincinnati Reds take on the Athletics. The past 2 nights, the Athletics have beaten the Reds. This is hard to believe with the Reds being so close to a playoff spot, but the bullpen for the Reds failed them last night. On the mound today, we have Nick Lodolo of the Reds and Luis Morales of the Athletics. Lodolo has been fantastic for the Reds this season. He has a 3.10 ERA with an 8-7 record. More impressive, his away ERA is 2.36 with him only giving up 21 runs through 80 innings pitched. While these numbers are great, he will be going up against an Athletics lineup that is batting .250 over the last 6 games. Even more concerning, the Athletics are batting .261 at home while averaging 4.55 runs per game. It should be interesting to see who wins this battle.

For the Athletics, Morales will take the mound. Morales has been incredible this season, outside of his last start. In that start, he gave up 5 runs in just 4.2 innings against the Boston Red Sox. Prior to that, he had not given up more than 2 runs in any start this season. The good news for Morales is that the Reds are batting .190 over the last 6 games. I have a feeling Morales could return to good form again today. Outside of the starters, the Athletics bullpen has been significantly better in recent games. Overall, it seems like the Reds are not interested in making the playoffs, so I am taking the Athletics to pull off the sweep.
