Rockies vs Braves Pickswise Expert Predictions
We head to the Big A on Sunday afternoon for the final game of a series between the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves. Not surprisingly, the Braves have dominated the series thus far — winning 12-4 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday behind a 13-strikeout effort by Spencer Strider. The Rockies are just so, so bad, y’all. Today, like most days with the Rockies, you have a couple of choices: either play Russian roulette that today is the 1 out of 7 games they win, or bet the opponent to cover the run line (but even that is juiced today). I think the better way to play these spots is on the game total, and I am looking for the under on Sunday.
Why play the under? Well, for one thing the Colorado offense is awful no matter who is on the mound. The Rockies average a paltry 3.27 runs per game, and bear in mind they play half of their games at Coors Field. They are dreadful on the road — a league-worst 2.5 runs per game. They will face Grant Holmes, who is a middle of the road arm, but it generally doesn’t matter with the Rocks. On the mound for Colorado will be Austin Gomber, who is making his season debut. I’m sure everyone in Denver is excited about that boost to the rotation, right? Still, these Sunday afternoon games tend to keep scoring down for some reason, and when one team is allergic to scoring to begin with, I like the play. Give me the under. It varies between 8.5 and 9 depending on the book, so shop around.
Rockies vs Braves prediction: Under 8.5 (+105) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
