Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres Prediction, Odds and Picks for Friday, 09/12/25

With the Padres being just 2.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West, San Diego has a 4-game cushion in the NL Wild Card standings. The Padres are looking to give their starting rotation a little rest, which is why they’ll be calling up the left-hander, JP Sears from Triple-A to make tonight’s start. In his 25 starts this season, Sears is 8-10 with a 5.01 ERA. 

The Rockies may be out of playoff contention, but that won’t stop them from playing spoiler down the stretch. In hopes of that becoming a reality, the Rockies will hand the ball to Tanner Gordon in hopes he can put his team in a position to pick up a win, entering with a 5-6 record and a 6.60 ERA.  The Padres offense has cooled down tremendously, averaging just 3.7 runs per game in their last 10, and despite their struggles, they’re still performing better than the Rockies who are averaging just 2.9 runs per game in that same span. At the end of the day, the Padres are fighting for a playoff spot and I think they’ll get to Gordon in this one and secure another win in front of their home crowd.
