Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/14/25

San Diego sits 2.5 behind the Dodgers in the NL West, and with 13 games remaining, they’ll need to win these types of matchups if they want any shot at winning a NL West title. Taking the mound for the Padres today will be Yu Darvish who enters with a 3-5 record and a 5.65 ERA. Darvish hasn’t been himself this season, and in his last three starts, he’s 0-2 with a 6.59 ERA. 

For the Rockies, German Marquez will get the start, entering with a 3-13 record and a 6.31 ERA. Marquez hasn’t won a game since June 18th and in his last three starts, he’s 0-2 with a 10.67 ERA. Offensively, the Padres are averaging 4.5 runs per game in their last 10 compared to the Rockies 3. The Padres offense shouldn’t have any issues scoring runs off of Marquez and this Rockies bullpen that holds a 5.32 ERA this season. The same goes for the Rockies, despite their offensive struggles, they should be able to score a few off of Darvish in today’s matchup given his recent struggles. Taking everything into consideration, I don’t trust Darvish enough to think he can put his team in a position to pick up the win. However, I do expect both teams to find success scoring runs in today’s matchup, which is why I’m backing the over as my best bet of the day.
