Rockies vs Nationals Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals face off again on Tuesday after the Rockies won the series opener Monday. If you are keeping score at home, the Rockies have won 3 of their last 5 and 6 of their last 13 — both of which feel like some serious momentum for a team on pace to break all sorts of embarrassing records. On the other side, the Nationals have now lost 9 in a row. Despite those trends, the Rockies are still going off the board at +165. No one has any idea how to project these 2 teams, but some days you just play something for funsies — and this is it for me. I’m taking the ticket on the Rockies to win.
There is next to nothing in this game that you can count on, if we are being honest. Anthony Senzatela is one of the worst pitchers in baseball, and he has allowed a touchdown in 2 of his last 3 starts. He also had one of his best outings of the year against the Nats in April. Mike Saroka is also not good, a mere shadow of himself when he was with the Braves. Both bullpens are among the worst in the league. The offenses aren’t great, either, although shoutout to the Rockies for crawling out of last place there over the weekend. This is purely about momentum for me — the Rockies are as hot as they are likely to get, and the Nats are on the verge of a 10-game slide. Why not chase Colorado?
