Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Odds and Wild Card Picks for Today, 10/01/25

After an exciting finish in Game 1, the Detroit Tigers will look to close out the American League Wild Card Series with a win against their division rivals, the Cleveland Guardians. Casey Mize is expected to get the start for the Tigers in Game 2, entering with a 14-6 record and a 3.87 ERA on the season. Against Cleveland this season, Mize has been sharp – going 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA across three starts. 

For the Guardians, Tanner Bibee will get the nod in Game 2, entering with a 12-11 record and a 4.24 ERA. While his season totals may not jump off the page, Bibee has been lights out against Detroit – going 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA in three starts. A big reason the Guardians were able to storm back and win their division was due to their strong pitching and their offense that’s averaging 4.4 runs per game over their last 10 games. 

As for Detroit, their offense is still a major concern for me as they’re averaging just 2.5 runs per game in their last 10. The Guardians stormed back and won the American League Central and I expect them to come back in Game 2 and steal this one at home against the Tigers. Look for Bibee to control the game from the start, making the Guardians my best bet of the day.
