Tigers vs Twins Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Tigers Midwest road trip continues as they open a four-game set against the Twins. Detroit is coming off a series win over the White Sox, taking two of three, but their offense was a little lackluster, averaging just three runs per game. Once one of the hottest offenses in baseball earlier this season, the Tigers have cooled off, averaging just 4.1 runs per game over their last 25. Tarik Skubal will get the start for Detroit tonight, entering with a 11-3 record, 2.35 ERA, and a 0.86 WHIP.
As for the Twins, they moved several key players before the deadline and have averaged 4.1 runs per game over their last 25 – identical to the Tigers recent production, which is kind of surprising to me. The Twins will send Bailey Ober to the mound who enters with a 4-7 record, 5.16 ERA, and a 1.38 WHIP. While the offenses have been producing at the same clip, the Tigers hold a clear advantage on the mound with Skubal. The last time Skubal faced the Twins was back on June 29th where he pitched seven shutout innings, striking out 13. I expect the same type of performance from Skubal in today’s matchup, and the Tigers should find success against Ober as they face him for a sceond time this season, too. The last time Ober faced Detroit was back on June 28th where he gave up seven earned runs on 11 hits in just 5.2 innings pitched. Look for the Tigers to roll in this one and win by 2 or more runs.
Tigers vs Twins prediction: Tigers -1.5 (-125) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
