Houston Astros vs Colorado Rockies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/07/26

There is a bit of a buzz building around the Colorado Rockies to start this season, who didn’t have a ton of expectations entering it, but is now 4-6 after a big win against the Houston Astros on Monday night. The players on the roster are saying all the right things about believing in the group, but the talent gap is going to be too big for the team actually to make a run this season. While everyone being down on the Astros and everyone taking notice of the Rockies might lead to them becoming a popular bet on Tuesday, I’m not going to be so quick to hop on the bandwagon.

The Rockies do send Kyle Freeland to the mound in this game, a pitcher who has been successful for them throughout his career. However, both quality starts to begin the year have been on the road, and he makes his first appearance at Coors Field on Tuesday night, where he struggled last season, like most pitchers. Freeland had a 4.37 ERA on the road in 2025, compared to a 5.75 ERA at home. Ironically, he gave up double the amount of home runs on the road, but that is a stat that could regress to the mean at the hitter-friendly park this season.

Mike Burrows had a rough first outing for the Astros against the Los Angeles Angels, but bounced back in his second outing against the Boston Red Sox. While he isn’t the most confidence-producing pitcher I’ve ever bet on, I believe he’ll do enough against the Rockies to get Houston a bounce-back victory.

The hitter to keep an eye on in Houston’s lineup is Christian Walker, who has 41 career at-bats against Freeland, recording a .317 average and three home runs.
