Astros vs Tigers Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Houston offense has gone extremely cold. The Astros have been shut out in 3 of their last 4 games, which includes a 10-0 loss in the series opener against the Tigers on Monday night. Now, Houston gets to face reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal on Tuesday night at Comerica Park. Skubal hasn’t looked his usual self so far in August, as he owns a 4.82 ERA over 18.2 innings this month. He still has 19 strikeouts to just 4 walks in August, and enters this contest with an impressive 2.42 ERA and 0.87 WHIP through 152.1 innings this season. A struggling Houston offense could be the perfect chance for Skubal to get back to his dominant self.
Houston starter Hunter Brown has also been impressive so far in 2025. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a 2.45 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 24 starts and 143 innings this season. He’s allowed just 14 hits in 19 innings in August, and is set to face a Detroit offense that has been fairly up-and-down in recent weeks. Detroit plated 10 runs last night, so they could come back down to earth against Brown in this one. With these pitchers on the mound, look for runs to be at a premium in the first 5 innings of this contest.
