Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/26/25

As we head into the season’s final weekend, the Los Angeles Angels play host to the Houston Astros. The Astros broke a poorly timed 5-game losing skid on Thursday with a win over the Athletics. Houston now sits on the outside of the playoff race looking in, thanks in part to their own losing streak, and in part to the red hot Mariners and Guardians. This is a spot where Houston simple has to win, and when motivation is high, I am likely to cast my lot. My Astros vs Angels pick is Houston on the Money Line.

The story for LA is that Kyle Hendricks is likely making his final professional start. He is expected to announce his retirement at season’s end. He has given the Angels a good final season too, and he locked up the Astros the last time he saw them. On the other side is Jason Alexander, who was chased in the second inning by the Mariners in his last outing. Aside from that outlier, he has been solid, and he should at least pile up plenty of Ks against the swing-happy Angels. I am backing the Astros though for two reasons. First, as mentioned above, they have to win, and motivation matters. Second, I like to fade the LAA bullpen. Even if Hendricks is strong, his bullpen should still have plenty of time to mess things up. I’ll take my chances there. Give me the Astros on Friday.
