Astros vs Mariners Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
HOU Astros Win(+120)

The Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners kick off a series on Friday in the Great Northwest. Both teams come into this spot riding ugly losing streaks and in desperate need of a win. The Astros have lost 4 in a row and were just swept in Colorado, twice scoring only 1 run. The Mariners have lost 5 in a row, and worse, to division rivals Texas and LA. For the Mariners, the problem has been the offense. They have only eclipsed 3 runs in 1 of the last 9 games. Until that changes, I can’t back this team. Give me the Astros on the money line.

The pitching matchup is Tatsuya Imai vs Emerson Hancock. Imai had a rough debut but was much stronger in his second outing. Hancock is a highly touted prospect who is finally getting a shot to stick, and he has posted 2 strong outings. Seattle has to have a strong pitching performance to win, especially as long as the offense is lifeless. The Mariners no doubt have the advantage on the mound, both in the early innings and late innings. Yet it is the offense that gives me pause. There are just way too many batting averages below .200 right now, and no one is hitting for any power. I’m staying away from this team for a little while.

Astros vs Mariners prediction: Astros ML (+120) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
