Astros vs Rays Pickswise Expert Predictions
It’s getaway day, so we have lots of afternoon baseball on Wednesday. One of my favorite bets on the card is the Houston Astros vs Tampa Bay Rays, where these two teams have split a pair of low-scoring, 1-run games so far this series. Afternoon baseball is also usually low scoring all across the league, and that makes the value of a good pitcher even higher. My Astros vs Rays best bet is the Astros to win, and that has everything to do with one of the hottest pitchers in the league, Hunter Brown.
Brown had a shaky start to his big league career, find a mixed bag of results last season. In the offseason, however, he made some adjustments to both his mechanics and his pitch mix, and he is one of the filthiest guys in the league now. He throws more kinds of pitches than his catcher has fingers to call them, and he has posted 5 straight games with 9 strikeouts. He isn’t allowing runs either, as he has allowed only 5 runs across his last 7 starts, and 4 of those starts have been shutouts. Until Brown cools off, I’m along for the ride. Let’s back Houston on the money line.
Astros vs Rays prediction: Astros ML (-135) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
